Recap & reflections from the s-X-AIPI Final Event
On April 9, 2025, the s-X-AIPI consortium celebrated its concluding “Transforming Process Industries with AI” event in Belgrade, Serbia at Sava Centar. Key experts from s-X-AIPI, joined by an outstanding lineup of guest speakers, explored the many ways self-improving AI-powered tools can optimise processes, deliver real value to the process industries and beyond, and support Europe’s digital transformation journey.
Event in brief
s-X-AIPI project partners, the EC’s Project Officer, representatives from the Circular TwAIn and AIDEAS research projects and various stakeholders mainly from research, academia and industry convened both in person and online. The agenda spanned across a welcome – introductory session during which participants listened to an overview of s-X-AIPI and the EC’s view on AI as a key force in the future of European industry. Session 1 was devoted to the more technical aspects including Self-X AI Technologies & Autonomic Systems while session 2 centered on experiences gained by the application of AI-solutions in industrial use cases, specifically in steel, asphalt, aluminium and pharma. In session 3 the project’s key delivered results were discussed along with interesting technological findings from the fellow research projects AIDEAS and Circular TwAIn. At the day's end, an enlightening panel discussion took place. It was chaired by the meeting host and featured the s-X-AIPI project coordinator and representatives from the AIDEAS and Circular TwAIn research projects.
High-level conversations on critical issues ranged from AI adoption in SMEs to AI upskilling and reskilling, human-AI interactions, efficiency gains by using AI-powered tools, implementation barriers and perceived benefits, and AI-development in Europe compared to other countries such as USA or China.
The event was an initiative of the s-X-AIPI consortium, hosted and organized by NISSATECH, designed to communicate key research achievements in self-improving AI toolsets for the process industry. Meant for professionals, or simply anyone intrigued by AI the event attempted to propose answers to crucial scientific questions at the forefront of the field.
